Thank you to the citizens of Delta County who joined Delta County Commissioners, Delta County Planning Commission, and staff, for two community events that were held June 27th in Delta, and July 1st, in Hotchkiss. The purpose of the community meetings was to roll out the work that had been done thus far regarding the Land Use Regulations Update initiative, as well as to garner feedback from homeowners and business owners alike, in unincorporated Delta County.
After a brief overview and updated presentation by Elyse Ackerman-Casselberry, Delta County's Community & Economic Development Director, the participants were encouraged to review the draft proposed plan, look the proposed maps and provide feedback via sticky notes, and engage in honest dialog with the Commissioners and Planning Commission as to how the proposed changes may or may not impact their property. "The dialog was the most critical piece of information that we received," Casselberry said, "It allowed us to confirm that we are on the right track so far. We are not there yet, but it's satisfying to realize that all of the work that's been put in over the last several months is moving us in the right direction."
The next steps of this process is reviewing all of the feedback that's been received thus far, both written and verbal, and incorporate modifications that make sense in the larger scheme of things, and push it back out to the community once again, for review and comment; community meetings are likely to take place in late September. After the next and final round of community meetings, that information will then be reviewed, plan adjustments may be made, and the final plan should be in the hands of the Commissioners for review and adoption later this fall .
Please be on the lookout for information regarding the upcoming Community Meetings, here at Deltacountyplan.com; in the Delta County Independent, the High Country Shopper, and on the County's Facebook page.
